Sony has announced its Q1 fiscal year 2016 financial results. Operating income grew 38.8 % to $794 million and net income jumped 82.4 % to $676 million. The success of the PlayStation 4 is the driving force of Sony performance. Sales have gone up 12.1 % year over year and operating income for the division rose 350.5 %. Sony has shipped 3 million PlayStation 4 consoles during Q1, bringing lifetime shipments to 25.3 million. In the same period, Microsoft shipped 1.4 million Xbox Ones and Xbox 360's combined.
