Harmonix Is Crowdfunding Rock Band 4 For PC

Harmonix is turning to crowdfunding to bring Rock Band 4 to PC. The campaign lunched today on crowdfunding platform Fig, with a goal of $1.5 million USD. Rock Band 4 for PC will have all the same features as the console versions, and Fig backers will get 33 unannounced songs for contributing to the campaign. Most instruments from other versions of Rock Band will be compatible. Song libraries from other versions will not carry over to the Steam version of Rock Band 4, no surprise there. The new and most likely the best feature for this PC port will be the resurrection of Rock Band Network, which allows users to upload their own tracks, chart them and sell them on Rock Band. The new version of Rock Band Network will be updated to include Steam Workshop support, so users will be able to share their content with anyone in the Steam community and easily sell their work. The campaign will run until April 5, with a release for Q3 2016 on Steam.

It should be noted that Harmonix won’t be doing the port them selves and instead Sumo Digital will be responsible of the port. Sumo Digital have worked on such titles as LittleBigPlanet 3, Crackdown 3 and Driver 76 just to name a few. I feel like Harmonix should be more concerned with Rock Band 4 having multiplayer support and fixing other issues with the game then wanted a PC port. I know that Harmonix will still be working on the console version of Rock Band 4 while the port is being worked on, but it still seems like bad timing to me. With all that being said I will probably be backing this PC port as I love Rock Band and being about to play on my PC as well as having the Network band sounds awesome to me. Call me a sucker. What do you think of Harmonix wanting Rock Band 4 on PC ?
