Strong Museum Of Play Announces Video Game Hall Of Fame Finalists

The Strong Museum of Play in Rochester, NY has announced the finalists for this year’s Video Game Hall of Fame class. This year’s inductees will join last year’s inaugural class. 2014’s group consists of:
  • Doom
  • Pac-Man
  • Pong
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Tetris
  • World of Warcraft 
This year’s roster of possible inductees include:
  • Elite
  • Final Fantasy
  • Grand Theft Auto III
  • John Madden Football
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Minecraft
  • Nurburgring
  • The Oregon Trail
  • Pokémon Red and Green
  • Sid Meier’s Civilization
  • The Sims
  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Space Invaders
  • Street Fighter II
  • Tomb Raider
The games are selected based on its longevity, geographical reach, influence on other games, entertainment, or pop culture. The winners will be selected by a panel of journalists, academics, and others familiar with the video game industry, will be announced on Thursday, May 5, at 10:30 a.m. ET in Rochester, New York.
