According To GameStop CEO Nintendo NX Will Use Physical Media

GameStop has revealed that the Nintendo NX will use physical media and that they will be able to “play a role in it, our pre-owned business will also play a role.” However, it’s still not clear whether that it will be traditional discs or cartridges. As you probably already know cartridges were rumored to be the media that the platform will use and judging from GameStop CEO Paul Raines he isn’t entirely sure whether it’s going to be disc based or cartridge based. Guess we shall have to wait and see.

“I would say that the fact that there are rumors of that type just confirms for you that this is an important console for next year. It will have physical media, we will play a role in it, our pre-owned business will also play a role. So we’re excited about that.”

“The only difference would be on the refurbishment and pre-owned side. And actually, cartridges are much simpler to refurbish and repackage. So there is somewhat a little bit of an advantage if it went in that direction on used.”
