PS4 Update 4.50 Finally Adds External HDD Support + More

Sony is currently sending out beta invites for the next PlayStation 4 system update, giving those who signed up a chance to get an early look at system update 4.50. This one adds several new features, including the ability to use an external hard drive with the console. Once the update is available to the public, players will be able to connect a USB 3.0 external hard drive tat’s up to 8 TBs to the PS4, it can be used for games and other applications. It sounds great for those who are too squeamish to replace the hard drive in there console with a larger one. External drives are generally cheaper, too, which makes the option very appealing. The update also adds the ability to create custom wallpapers based on screenshots, and adds support for 3D Blu-rays on PSVR. You can see the complete notes for the update on the PlayStation Blog. If you're in the beta, you can check it out starting today.
