When Battlefield 2042 launches in October it won't have a single-player campaign. It also won't return to a battle royale mode. Instead, it's going to focus on its multiplayer campaign, which supports 128 players on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S and X, and 64 players on PS4 and Xbox One.
In an interview with Eurogamer, Battlefield 2042 designer director Daniel Berlin explained why the game is missing a single-player campaign.
"If you look at the DNA of the studio, what we've been doing for so long, we just said you know what, we're not going to have a traditional single-player campaign this time around, but we're going to put all that emphasis and all those resources into building depth into the multiplayer. Because that is what we do best."
Battlefield 2042 is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC on October 22.
