Shigeru Miyamoto Blames The Price For The Wii U’s Struggles

Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox, F-Zero and Pikmin,  has revealed what he thinks are some of the reasons behind the struggling Wii U. In an interview with NPR, he said that "with our latest system, the price point was one that ended up getting a little higher than we wanted." Miyamoto went on to blame the consumer tablet market for making the Wii U seem less unique. "We thought that you could have the rapid boot-up of tablet-type functionality and it would be a very unique system that could introduce some unique styles of play. "I think unfortunately what ended up happening was that tablets themselves appeared in the marketplace and evolve very, very rapidly, and unfortunately the Wii system launched at a time where the uniqueness of those features were perhaps not as strong as they were when we had first begun developing them." What do you think of what Miyamoto said ? Is he right ? Would you buy a Wii U if it was cheaper ?
