Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has suggested he would be open to working with another studio on the Duke Nukem franchise. Speaking at the Develop: Brighton conference, Pitchford was responding to a question about the future of the Duke Nukem IP. He said Gearbox didn't purchase the franchise "merely so we could all experience Duke Nukem Forever.” The studio acquired the property from 3D Realms in 2010, finally releasing Duke Nukem Forever after nearly 15 years in development in 2011. Pitchford has said that Gearbox has done some prototyping on a new Duke Nukem. However, he believes it would be faster if the right development partner came along to help with the project. Is the world ready for a nothing Duke Nukem ? Has there been enough time to recover form Duke Nukem Forever ? Sidenote, I was a fan of Duke Nukem Forever for what it was and not what everyone wanted it to be. What do you think ?
