To celebrate Overwatch's one year anniversary, Blizzard has revealed a seasonal event, a free weekend, and the announcement of Overwatch: Game of the Year Edition. Starting on Tuesday May 23, a seasonal event called the Anniversary Event will kick off, Blizzard hasn’t given details on this yet but we can be sure new skins will be involved. Also on May 23, a digital version of Overwatch: Game of the Year Edition will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This edition will be filled with several goodies, including:
- 10 Bonus Loot Boxes
- New hero skins, including Blackwatch Reyes and Strike-Commander Morrison skins. You can also explore origins of other heroes such as Overgrown Bastion, Security Chief Pharah, and Slipstream Tracer
Purchasing the Game of the Year edition will also grant you Overwatch-themed goodies in other Blizzard games, such as:
- Tracer in Heroes of the Storm
- Baby Winston Pet in World of Warcraft
- Mercy's Wings in Diablo III
- In-game portraits of Tracer, Reaper, Pharah, Winston, Bastion, and Soldier: 76 in StarCraft II
- A Hearthstone Card
Additionally, from May 26 to 29, a free weekend is planned, which allows players to enjoy Overwatch without having to pay for the full game. Should players choose to purchase Overwatch following the free weekend, you progress will be transferred over.
