According to Elec, Apple will also debut the iPad OLED panel dry etching method for the first time. Display dry etching is the technique of deleting superfluous sections from thin film transistor (TFT) circuit designs using chemical technology. The display can be etched in order to make it smaller and lighter.
When it comes to brightness and color ratios, OLED may be superior to LCD, but the latter is the more cost-effective alternative. Mini-LED strives to provide the best of both worlds.
The 2021 iPad Pro, for example, can attain 1,000 nits of full-screen brightness with 1,600 nits of specular highlights, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a large DCI-P3 color gamut thanks to Mini-LED technology. In a design that is only 6.4mm thick.
